Hallway Talk helps participants focus on the concise language and cultural fluency necessary to simplify technical topics in their fields for a broad variety of audiences as well as discuss their place in the academic environment and what makes their position/research unique.

Stellar Presentations I and II is a two-part seminar with the aim to help participants better their presentation skills for international conferences or lecturing. The first seminar will focus on audience awareness, communication style, organizing language, and presentation techniques. The seminars will include practice and feedback, as well as a final video-taped presentation on topics related to the participants’ disciplines during the second meeting. At the end of the seminar, participants will receive individualized feedback from the instructor and other participants. * Participants interested in Stellar Presentations should attend both workshops.

Critical Listening assists participants in using authentic materials (video or actual lectures) to develop both their own academic fluency and their ability to understand implied as well as literal meaning.

Dynamic Discussions focuses on aspects of leading and participating in positive and engaging classroom discussion. We will examine techniques and language for facilitating productive discussions. Participants will actively participate in practicing discussion techniques during the seminar.

Active Learning during Lectures focuses on simple ways to enhance the content of your lectures with creative and communicative practices to capture student attention and improve student learning.

Film & Discussion Night
Film: In America (2002) is a drama about an Irish family's relocation to New York City. The film is told through the eyes of the family’s daughters and deals with issues of immigration, racism, drug addiction, and cultural adjustment. *English with English subtitles

Discussion: The film highlights a number of iconic images and stereotypes regarding the American dream. These stereotypes and frequently-mentioned issues will be used as the basis for a discussion about the realities of contemporary American life, Estonian perceptions of the U.S., and common elements/concerns shared between the two places.
