Setting Up Your Audio Journal
back to Digital Audio Journals
Step One: Dealing with software
We will be using Audio Journals as an integral part of EAPP 210. In order to orient ourselves to the technology involved in recording journal entries, you will need to learn how to manipulate some basic software available. You can download this software for free onto your own computer, or you can use the software set up for you in the Mac Lab in the Kade Center.
- You will need iTunes software. If you don’t already have it, you can download it for free.
- Go to Audacity and download the free software.
- You will also need free software called LameLib in order to convert your files to MP3s.
- You will need a microphone for this project. You can either use your own or check one out from the AV Center located across from Student Affairs. I also have a microphone that you are welcome to use if you stop by my office in the ESL building.
- To open the software, you simply click on the icon that appears on your screen. A screen with recording buttons at the top should appear.
Perhaps you know of another (better?) way to record your audio journal entries for the course? If so, I’m all ears. Please send your ideas along to me or post them on the course conference.
Step Two: How does it work?
- Audio Journal Instructions (mp3, text)
- Listen to the directions and complete the audacity orientation assignment page.
